'Man alive, number five!' Annual bingo evening has raised over £5,000 for Tommy’s!

Vicky Endean has been fundraising for Tommy’s since 2013 in memory of her baby boy, Toby, born sleeping. Her annual bingo event is raising incredible sums to save babies’ lives.

Bingo evening

Tommy's fundraising story, 15/12/2016

In 2011, Vicky Endean and her husband went through the heartbreak of losing their baby boy Toby, born sleeping at 32 weeks.

Two years on from losing Toby, Vicky started fundraising for Tommy’s to help us find the answers.

‘I needed to support a charity that does research into WHY these terrible things happen!’

Vicky started by organising a coffee morning which was so successful, raising over £1,000! – that she decided to try running a bingo evening.

With a team of supportive friends and family members, Vicky ran her first bingo night in 2014 and it was such a triumph that she has turned it into an annual event.

With the funds raised this year, added to the £6,000 from previous years, Vicky is confident that they’re close to hitting the £10,000 mark!

Vicky told us that she couldn’t have done this alone. As the events has grown, so too has her team of helpers.

‘The event started with just friends and family, the people closest who supported us most just after we lost Toby. But the reputation of our bingo night has grown and now more people are getting in touch to ask if they can get involved! The Cambria Hotel in Paignton have been so supportive over the years, from offering us the space to hold our event to giving generous donations each time, we couldn’t have done it without them.’

Vicky dedicates her time to fundraising for Tommy’s in the hope that the money they raise will eventually mean no parents have to go through the same heartache she and her husband had to.

We are so grateful for her support and wish all attendees the best of luck – happy bingo-ing!
