What we do
What we do as a charity organisation
We research the causes of baby loss
We believe research can save babies’ lives and improve care and support for families at every stage of the pregnancy journey. Our mission as a charity organisation is to make the UK the safest place to give birth, halving the number of babies who die in pregnancy and birth by 2030. In the UK, it is estimated that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss during pregnancy or birth and 60,000 babies are born prematurely each year. As a charity for premature babies and those who have experienced baby loss, we research causes and treatments so we can make pregnancy and birth safer for all.
We provide information to make pregnancy safer
Our PregnancyHub supports families with expert-led pregnancy information throughout their journey, from planning for pregnancy through pregnancy and after birth. Each month, we reach around 2 million people through our online hub.
We support families after baby loss
Tommy’s is a community, a family. Women and their families are the heart of all that we do. We offer a wide range of resources, tools and services for families who experience baby loss or premature birth. We are passionate about breaking the stigma that surrounds miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, termination for medical reasons and neonatal loss and share the stories of those who can sometimes feel silenced by society.
We raise money
We are the largest pregnancy charity in the UK. We are very proud that over 90% of our income comes from voluntary donations from our committed supporters and our partnerships with charitable trusts, foundations and companies. Our supporters also take part in sporting events and community events or make donations and raise funds their own way, such as giving to us through payroll donations, to ensure that we continue our work to save babies’ lives.
We work to improve maternity care
We are dedicated to making the UK the safest place in the world to give birth.
We provide support at work for pregnant people and their families
We want to partner with companies that are committed to supporting their employees' pregnancy and parenthood, whatever the journey.
