#misCOURAGE story, 22/05/2017, by Samantha
I felt that I wanted to share my story as I sadly lost my first baby after being told I had a phantom miscarriage at 9 weeks which resulting in losing the baby.
We had tried for a few months to get pregnant and it was lovely news to have a baby on the way.
The night before I went to hospital I bled but apparently this is common, after it didn't stop in the morning I went to the doctor who told me to go straight to hospital.
Apparently I had a phantom miscarriage which means that you bleed but the womb is closed. I had to wait a week to find out if everything was ok with baby.
This was my week of jury service, I couldn't tell work why I was at hospital and made it up why I was there. Why do work HR ask you all these questions. It was awful.
We went to hospital a week later they checked me out and I had a pregnancy test which was negative. A nurse sadly told me we had lost the baby and gave me a leaflet.
This was 2 days before Christmas. I felt terrible and hormonal over Christmas period exhausted. My in laws came to stay with us for Christmas in our new home of 6 days!!!. I wanted to be alone and not have guests!
Thankfully my miscarriage story was not half as bad as my friend who was found on the bathroom floor six months earlier and rushed to hospital.
My friend was there for me to talk to and 6 weeks later I fell pregnant with our lovely daughter who is now 5. After 4.5yrs of trying for a 3rd pregnancy the doctors are looking into why this isn't happening.
We have one beautiful daughter and I left my job and company who didn't give the privacy to have a miscarriage in private and had to lie to them.
