We want her to be a part of our lives in everything we do

At a scan at 29 weeks and 5 days, Andra and her partner were given the devastating news their daughter, Alexandra had no heartbeat. They’re sharing their story to honour their daughter’s memory.

Losing Alexandra

Our loss came as an absolute shock to us as all of our scans, both NHS and private, right up to the week before, were all healthy and going very well. But at 29 weeks and 5 days, my partner and I experienced the devastating news that our daughter, Alexandra, had no heartbeat. I had to deliver her, as a stillbirth, the next day.

Our healing journey

Through the heartbreaking journey of going through this immense loss, we came across various organisations, including Tommy's. It was really helpful to hear the stories of other parents going through the same thing and know that we weren't alone in a world that we didn't know how to exist in anymore. It offered us comfort and support in our greatest time of need.

On 7 October, we did the Walk for Hope for Alexandra. We want her to be a part of our lives in everything we do and want to hope that this terrible tragedy won’t happen to as many parents in the future, due to all the work that Tommy's do for research and policy for the prevention of miscarriages, stillbirth and neonatal death.
