Commenting Policy

The Tommy’s website has a number of areas where we welcome comments and stories from the public. We feel that your experiences and thoughts are of value and interest to others experiencing similar situations.

Although we do not monitor every single comment or story, contributions to this website may be checked to make sure they don’t break our rules. Please keep your contributions constructive, relevant and civil. The following rules and guidelines protect both you and us. Our moderators reserve the right to remove contributions that break the rules.

Responding to other people’s comments

If you think that someone’s contribution to the website breaks our rules you can alert one of our moderators by clicking the link provided to report a comment. 

Relevance and good manners

Comments must be relevant to the page they are to appear on. 

Please ensure that your comments are respectful of others. We reserve the right to remove comments that are unlawful, harassing, abusive, threatening, obscene, sexually suggestive, racist, homophobic or sexist or that incite or promote hatred of any group of individual.  

Confidentiality

  • To protect other people’s privacy, please do not name specific individuals when you are commenting.
  • To protect your own privacy, please do not reveal personal information, such as phone numbers, email addresses, addresses and so on.
  • Please avoid naming businesses or commercial services in your comment. 

    Giving advice

    We reserve the right to remove comments that might promote behaviour that is harmful or that promote a poor moral example.

    We reserve the right to delete comments deemed to be advertising a product or service.

    Clinical negligence or criminal activity

    Please do not make accusations of clinical negligence in which an individual is identified. If you believe clinical negligence has occurred, please contact the hospital or doctor directly, or visit www.nhs.uk to give feedback.

    Threats

    Comments containing threats of public fear, terrorism or threats towards any individual are not permitted.
