On Friday 22 March 2013 we announced the winners of our annual Baby-friendly Awards, at London's Landmark Hotel. The ceremony was hosted by Carrie and David Grant, and awards were presented by celebrities including Sadie Frost, Helen McCrory, Amanda Mealing, Katy Hill, Kirsty McCabe and long term supporters, Nancy Sorrell and Terri Dwyer.
About the awards
Since 1995, the Baby-friendly Awards have recognised the vital support that friends, family and health professionals offer couples who suffer a pregnancy complication, or loss of a baby. The nine winners included Birmingham Heartlands Hospital Neonatal Unit who picked up the ‘Miracle Unit’ Award for the outstanding care they gave to a premature baby born at twenty seven weeks, whilst the ‘Courage’ Award went to a Bedfordshire couple who waited twenty one years to become parents.
The Awards also recognised corporate companies and retailers who make a positive difference to families’ lives all over the UK, making their everyday needs a priority. This year a record 32,130 parents voted in a wide variety of categories, ranging from best family supermarket to most eco-friendly baby company.
