Why we need The young woman's guide to a healthy pregnancy

When I was 16 and pregnant I had a pregnancy book that soon became my bible. I ate better than I’d ever eaten, and learnt more about biology than I had in 11 years of school! I loved reading about the baby growing inside me and the things I could do to give him the best start in life.

Each year in England around 30,000 young women under the age of twenty will give birth.

Running the London marathon for Tommy's

In less than one week I will strap on my trainers and join thousands of other runners in the London Marathon. I am so excited I could squeal, so nervous I could vomit, and so proud I could burst.

Rachel and her daughters at a raceIn January 2012 one of my closest friends Caroline told me that after years of trying and IVF, she was pregnant. Her pregnancy would be high risk as Caroline has a rare condition that makes premature birth much more likely, but they were hopeful. I was doubly delighted, as I was about to give birth to my third child.
