Tommy's work on exercise in pregnancy

It is advised that women achieve at least 30 minutes of activity every day during their pregnancy.

Women planning a pregnancy and pregnant women are advised to stay active. It is important to maintain a good fitness level in pregnancy that is consistent with pre-pregnancy fitness levels to encourage better well-being, help aches and pains, improve pregnancy weight management and reduce stress levels for mums-to-be. In addition, the developing baby will benefit from an active mum because of improved oxygen flow to the placenta.

Tommy's wants to see:

  • raised awareness amongst women that exercise is safe and healthy during pregnancy
  • an increase in the amount of women exercising during pregnancy
  • an increase in the amount of women staying active in pregnancy
