Helping families to plan and prepare for pregnancy

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Clearblue on phase 2 of our #AreYouReady planning for pregnancy campaign in 2019.

Women and men rarely talk to their doctor or other health professional before they start trying for a baby. This can result in low levels of awareness about actions they can take before they conceive that will help reduce risks to the pregnancy and the baby, and that will increase their chances of conception. 

For example, folic acid should ideally be taken 2 months before conception to build the level of the vitamin up in the body to give maximum protection to the baby from spina bifida and other neural tube defects.

The campaign aims to address this lack of information. One key element is a digital Planning for Pregnancy tool that was developed by Tommy’s and leading health organisations in 2018 to give women all the information they need to know before pregnancy.

Both Clearblue and Tommy’s will be promoting this tool, sharing stories and publishing useful information on all topics around fertility, conception and pregnancy health. Read more about the campaign and tool here: Planning for Pregnancy
