Tim and Lucy’s Water Babies journey

We are very proud Water Babies employees and supporters of Tommy’s and we can’t wait to be taking part in another Splashathon!

Tommy's charity fundraising story 2021

Tim and Lucy from Ipswich share their rainbow journey of their Water Babies swimmers: Oliver aged 5, Thomas aged 2 and Henry 4 months.

We began our journey with Water Babies in October 2016 with our rainbow baby, Oliver. We fell in love with Water Babies and all that it stands for. Fast forward 5 years and my husband is now a fully qualified Water Babies teacher and I am a Water Babies Ambassador.

We have gone on to have two more children, Thomas and Henry and all three will be doing the Splashathon.

We lost our first baby in August 2015. We had thought I was 10 weeks pregnant but a scan after some bleeding showed that the baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. No one warned me what would happen next. I was simply sent home with some leaflets. I was at home all on my own when I miscarried naturally which was very scary. There was little aftercare or support from the NHS. That’s when I found Tommy’s and the wonderful resources on the website which we found very useful.

A year later and our rainbow baby was born. I found pregnancy after loss a very anxious time and again there is little support from the NHS but Tommy’s once again had lots of useful resources.

We are very proud Water Babies employees and supporters of Tommy's and we can’t wait to be taking part in another Splashathon!
