Formula feeding FAQs

Your questions about formula feeding answered.

Can I heat bottles in the microwave?

Microwaves can heat milk unevenly. Shake the bottle very well once heated, then wait a few seconds before testing the temperature on your wrist.

Will adding extra powder make my baby sleep longer?

No, but it may make him sick. If your baby is still hungry, feed him more often.

Where can I get help with bottle-feeding?

Ask your midwife or health visitor for advice, or find out more on NHS Choices here.
