Dads and partners

Planning a pregnancy and having a baby are life-changing and exciting events. It can feel very new and maybe a bit daunting, but we have lots of information and support to help you.

These pages are for dads, partners and non-birthing parents. We also hope they will be helpful for anyone who is supporting someone through pregnancy and birth. We describe how pregnancy and birth may affect you and suggest ways that you can be involved.

We use the word ‘partner’ to include:

  • the partner(s), spouse or civil partner (including same-sex partners) of the mum or birthing parent
  • the biological father of the child
  • the co-parent(s)
  • the secondary adoptive parent having a child through surrogacy.

Our language is under constant review as we understand more about our audience’s needs.
