The winner of the 2016 Seraphine Mum’s Voice Award was Leigh Kendall
Winner Leigh Kendall’s bravery in blogging after her traumatic pregnancy experience means other women going through similar experiences feel solace in the fact that they’re not alone. Leigh suffered with pre-eclampsia and her baby Hugo was born too soon. Tragically, he passed away after 35 days. Leigh has courageously blogged about her experience, raising awareness of pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Her experience of grieving and being an “empty armed mother” are described in the blog and help support others going through baby loss. Leigh is part of the Maternity Experience (#matexp) movement on twitter and campaigns for better care for women in pregnancy, all the while keeping Hugo’s legacy alive through her blogging and tweeting #HugosLegacy.
