The Tommy's Sensathon

We are very excited to work with Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense little ones across the UK as they aim to raise £400,000 for Tommy's!

Tommy's Sensathon 2020

What is Sensathon?

Start fundraising

Tommy's will once again be partnering with Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense to host a wild west themed Yee-Ha! Sensathon; where babies, toddlers and their parents came together to raise money for Tommy’s.

Sensathon will take place in Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense classes nationwide. As this will be the first fundraising event that many of the little ones have ever done, it is set to be a pretty special event! We are challenging little ones to dress up in their best cowboy and cowgirl outfits and complete 6 special challenges in a wild west themed Sensathon.

Sensathon is a really fun experience for all involved, but there is an important reason behind it too. Although 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, stillbirth or premature birth, most parents never find out why. In most cases healthcare professionals simply do not know why it has happened. We need more research to find the answers.

So every mum, dad and baby taking part are helping other babies who aren't as lucky. And every pound raised, will help to save babies’ lives. To find out more about Tommy’s life-saving work, please watch our video below:

How will the money be spent?

1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss or preterm birth - and most parents never find out the real reason why.

Tommy’s has found that 71% of parents are not told why their baby died during pregnancy or was born prematurely. Not knowing why leaves couples feeling alone, powerless and full of worry for future pregnancies.

Tommy’s believes that parents deserve answers. As well as ending the cycle of self-blame and guilt, this will improve understanding of the biological processes at work and tackle the common myth that baby loss or preterm birth is ‘just one of those things’ and, therefore, cannot be prevented.

£400,000 could fund a Tommy’s research centre for 1 year to provide the answers parents so desperately need and save more babies’ lives.

Taking part

Everyone who takes part in Sensathon is encouraged to wear a wild west themed fancy dress costume! We have pulled together some ideas for you in this downloadable guide.

Other fundraising ideas

If you don’t want to rely just on your social networks, there is a whole range of ways that you can raise money - from all the usual things like sitting in a bath of beans (if you fancy!), or organising a quiz night (if you have time!) But we know how busy parents with young children can be so we’ll share some ideas which won’t take too much organisation:

Baby Brownies

Get baking with your little one and sell them for a £1 donation at your work/partners work/school gates/book group.

Kiddy Kit Sale

Arrange a Kiddy Kit Sale to sell off that far-too-small-but-too-good-to-throw-away jumper or toys and raise money for Sensathon.

Whatever you do to raise money, collect it all and then pay it on to your Virgin Money Giving page.
