Tommy’s supporter Becci Robins was left frustrated and upset by the silence surrounding baby loss, after suffering two miscarriages.
Becci told us that sharing her story of loss has helped her heal. She is frustrated that there isn’t more support and willingness to listen for women who want to speak out.
‘It is time to break the silence. I am not ashamed to speak out, in fact I want to. I want to talk, it's part of my road to recovery. It frustrates me that women and their families are left feeling like they can't open up and tell their story.’
In a bid to raise money and awareness for Tommy’s and help us to empower more women who want to share their stories, Becci has run a charity ball which raised £3900 and counting….
…It looked brilliant fun!
A massive 125 guests attended the night and listened to Becci bravely speak about her experience.
‘I was a little nervous on the night, especially just before I made my speech. I did it though and have been told it was very dignified and humbling. My dad told me he left that evening feeling 12 foot tall, bless him.’
The event was such a success that Becci has decided to run it as an annual event and has already started planning for next year.
‘I don't know if I will ever be a mum but one thing I do know is I can make a difference to others and raise vital funds and awareness for Tommy's.’
We are always so humbled by the incredible effort all of our supporters put in and cannot thank Becci enough for all of her hard work in making this ball a success.
You are truly an inspiration Becci and we wish you all the best for the next steps of your journey.
