10 super snacks to help your baby grow

During pregnancy eating small more frequent meals can help with sickness. If you want a snack, there are lots of healthier options.

A couple of oatcakes, a banana, some berries or a small bag of unsalted nuts will be better for you and will fill you up for longer than sweets, chocolate, biscuits or crisps. Try some of these interesting ideas.

      Hi Lucy, Honey is safe to eat in pregnancy but you should avoid giving it to babies under 1 year old. To date we have not advice to avoid it in pregnancy.

      You have mentioned here for '10 super snacks' to have 'Soft cheese and banana platter' but I was under the impression that you could not have soft cheese as it is unpasteurised? If there are any cheeses, please can you confirm which would be safe to eat?

      Hi, Yes there is a misconception that all soft cheese is unpasteurised but in fact most of it is pasteurised. Just check the labels before you buy.
      Cheeses you can eat in pregnancy are :
      Cottage cheese,
      Cream cheese including Mascepone,
      Processed cheese spreads.

      Dairy Lea is safe to eat in pregnancy as it is made with pasteurized milk. Just be aware that as with many cheeses it has a high salt content.
