Tommy's charity fundraising story, 21/04/2021
On Sunday 1 August 2021, Kristy will be taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon. This is her story and her reason for running. You can support Kristy on her journey here.
After years of telling people ‘I’m no runner’ and ‘I don’t understand people who run’, I surprised myself by starting running… two years later here I am, signed up to complete my biggest running goal to date. I figured, if I was going to run a half marathon, I would make it one where I could see the sights, little perks for me along the way, and so I chose London Landmarks Half Marathon.
I'm proud to be joining Team Tommy's, to support the charity in continuing their vital work & research into saving babies’ lives. Looking more into Tommy’s, and what the charity was about, I came to realise that they are an incredible organisation that want every parent to have the best possible pregnancy outcome and for them to go home a family. I knew this was the charity I wanted to run for.
Personally, I chose Tommy's for all those that I love, who have joined the lockdown baby trend, and are at the start, middle or end of their pregnancy journey’s. I want each and every one of them to have the best professional and medical love, support and care, so this run is for them.
Teaming my love for running with my love for books, it didn’t take me long to think up my fundraiser. I'm hosting a virtual book bingo event, on Thursday 22nd April, to raise funds for Tommy's. I'll be the host bringing banter (or trying to), whilst we play a couple rounds of bingo, with amazing book prizes which have been donated by wonderfully generous authors, independent bookshops, online book spaces and a special number from me.
Everyone & anyone is welcome, so if you fancy a night of banter, bingo & books then do come along - I'll see you there.
