We always miss our very beautiful angel baby, Dominic

After their first son, Dominic, was stillborn, Tracey and her husband Matt were devastated. In this blog, Tracey explains why she and her husband have raised funds for Tommy’s in their son’s memory.

My son Dominic was stillborn 9 years ago when I was 37 weeks pregnant.  He was our first baby and our world was torn apart when we found out that he had died. 

Dominic was beautiful and looked perfect which only made the pain worse when I felt like my body  had let him down.  I had a concealed placental abruption that made me very ill but thankfully down to great doctors and midwives was able to carry on and have two  other gorgeous boys. 

I have so many people to thank especially my husband Matt who got me out of bed each day and stayed by my side for weeks afterwards.  My family have all been very supportive and always remember Dominic and his birthday which was on the 11th October. 

Other big thanks go to my midwife Shelley who looked after me in all my pregnancies and supported me through so many moments when I was scared I was going to loose this baby too.  She was there on her day off when our next son Jonathan was born by C -section and is a very special person to us all. 

Sadly I suffered a miscarriage at 8 weeks with my third pregnancy but then went on to have our son Toby. 

We feel so blessed to have our two sons in our lives that bring us joy and happiness every day but will always miss our very beautiful angel baby Dominic who we wish was here with us in our family.  My other thanks goes to a lovely  lady called Karan who I met through SANDS. She talked to me every week for a long time and she played a big part in helping me cope with life after such a tragic loss and in coping with my next pregnancy. 

Finally Tommy's gave us the support and information we needed. As well as the help and research they do to help prevent other families from suffering the terrible loss and sadness that we had to endure. My husband cycled from London to Paris to raise money and we both ran the Royal Parks half marathon two years ago in memory of Dominic and were amazed by the generosity of other people in sponsoring us for this very worthy cause.

I have wanted to tell my story for many years but it has been very difficult to do.  Reading other people's stories helped me finally feel ready to share mine.
