Tommy’s launch partnership with Glossybox and Mama Mio to help mums prioritise their wellbeing and have safer pregnancies

Today, we’re launching our limited-edition ‘A Moment for Mama’ box full of expert information from our midwives and pampering goodies with Glossybox.

Did you know that January is the most common time of the year for people to find out that they’re pregnant?

In a survey of around 400 pregnant women and new mums via our PregnancyHub, 85% said they found it hard to take time for themselves and 96% would like to be able to take more time for their mental health and wellbeing.

89% of those surveyed also said that a little pampering helped them to balance their wellbeing.

Launching today (28 January) at midday, our limited-edition 'A Moment for Mama' box created by Glossybox alongside our expert midwives is designed to help pregnant women and new mums connect with their body and bond with their baby. The box is retailing for £25 with proceeds coming to Tommy's to support our vital work to save babies' lives, and contains products from luxury pregnancy skincare brand Mama Mio, worth a total of £83.

Expert information from Tommy's midwives

88% of those that we surveyed said they found the amount of information for new mums overwhelming. Our 'A Moment for Mama' box contains information, reminders and advice from our expert midwives to support women to manage their health and wellbeing month-by-month throughout their pregnancy, continuing into their journey as a new parent up until the first 3 months after birth.

Navigating pregnancy and becoming a parent can be difficult at the best of times, but the effects of the pandemic have heightened this. Our midwife-run helpline saw a 90% increase in demand at its height in 2021. Even in January 2022, 83% of those surveyed said they found looking after their wellbeing harder in the pandemic, and 85% felt more isolated as a pregnant person or new parent.

Together, we hope that 'A Moment for Mama' will help family and friends show a loved one that they’re thinking of them through their pregnancy and transition to becoming a new parent - or even as a purchase for a new mum to themselves!

9 in 10 said receiving post would cheer them up and help support their wellbeing, making the 'A Moment for Mama' box a perfect gift to help yourself or a loved one to have a happier, healthier pregnancy and post-birth experience.

It’s so important for mums to remember that the most important person to their baby is them, and that by taking care of themselves, they are taking care of their baby. We’re so pleased that Glossybox is helping us reach more women with important information to keep themselves and their baby healthy whilst reminding them that taking some well-deserved time out for themselves is part of wellbeing too! So to all future and new mums out there we want to remind you that YOU are your baby’s mum - so take care of her, she’s doing an amazing job!

— Amina, Tommys midwife

18% of the profits of each box sold will be donated to Tommy’s to help fund our pioneering research to end pregnancy and baby loss and to provide free expert information to everyone before, during and after pregnancy, helping more parents to have safer pregnancies and to take their babies home.
