I think the work Tommy's do is absolutely amazing

babyballet® star Lily-Rose was a top fundraiser in the Tommy’s Danceathon. Mum Nicola talks about why supporting Tommy’s means so much to them.

We were delighted that Lily-Rose had the opportunity to fundraise for Tommy's charity with her babyballet®️ class this year.

We have several close friends and family members who have been devastated by both miscarriage and stillbirth.

Also, I was diagnosed with obstetric cholestasis (a liver disease which only occurs in pregnancy) when pregnant with Lily-Rose, and was immediately deemed a high risk pregnancy with risk of stillbirth or premature birth. It was very overwhelming - I had to be monitored very closely with constant blood tests and foetal ECG testing.

In the last trimester it felt like I lived in the hospital!

Thankfully, I was very well looked after by my doctors and lovely antenatal nurses and we had a planned c-section with no complications. However, I know that not everyone is that lucky.

After my own experience, pregnancy health care is something I feel incredibly strongly about. Especially for those women who are more vulnerable as even for the most well educated and privileged, it is still extremely difficult to advocate for yourself as a pregnant woman.

There is no excuse for preventable baby loss in a country like the UK and I think the work Tommy's do is absolutely amazing.

We are very proud of Lily-Rose and all of her classmates and the rest of the babyballet®️ group for the massive sum they raised. We know it will be put to good use.
