Tommy's and Water Babies make a splash as joint fundraisers is confirmed as UK fastest growing charity event!

Splashathon has been named the fastest growing event in the whole of the UK, raising a whopping £909,000!

Splashathon has joined the top 25 mass participation fundraising event in the UK, blowing everyone else out of the water by claiming the title of fastest growing event!

We're so grateful to our fantastic sponsorship partner, Water Babies, whose have made this possible. The hard graft, commitment, enthusiasm and creativity of every single staff member helped to make this event the success it was and we here at Tommy's couldn’t be more grateful!

Tommy’s Director Lia Bowman gave heartfelt thanks to Water Babies:

“Tommy’s is absolutely over the moon to see Splashathon enter the Top 25 charity owned mass participation events table. To see Tommy’s name alongside some of the UK’s largest charities was an incredibly proud moment for us, and to be the fastest grower was just the icing on the cake! In April 2016, Tommy’s opened our new National Centre for Miscarriage Research and this would not have been possible without Water Babies.”

Splashathon is a unique water-based event, held every two years in June and July that allows babies to raise money to save other babies’ lives. Babies and toddlers across the UK take to the pool with their mums and dads in Water Babies classes to get involved in fun ‘aquativities’ for sponsorship.

Funds raised from Splashathon have recently helped Tommy’s open the National Centre for Miscarriage Research, and could fully fund it for nearly 2 years.

Paul Thompson, Co-Founder of Water Babies, was delighted after hearing the success of the campaign,

“This is a fantastic achievement. Everyone at Water Babies, including all the mums, dads, their babies and toddlers who helped made this happen will definitely be celebrating. It’s all down to their incredible enthusiasm and huge generosity – all for a fantastic cause.”

Massive thanks to everyone who contributed to this fantastic achievement including the superhero swimmers and their mums and dads - you're all amazing!
