Take a trip down memory lane with our celebrity Tommy’s Tape
Tommy's news, 16/12/2016
Tommy’s was set up in 1992 by two obstetricians from St Thomas’ Hospital London who were frustrated that they were unable to give women more answers about why they had lost their baby.
Shortly after its beginning, Anneka Rice took on the task of making a children’s tape for Tommy’s on her reality show Challenge Anneka.
The challenge was to complete this tape in time for the long anticipated homeward journey of premature baby Danielle Healy as a going home gift.
Anneka called in favours from her celebrity friends around London and the final tape boasts names such as Timmy Mallett and Joanna Lumley! The tape has become something of a family favourite with many of you getting in touch to ask us where you can get your hands on a copy.
With wonderful titles from Hush Little Baby to the Jabberwocky, this piece of Tommy’s history has turned into a timeless classic. And thanks to the technology that enables us to move tracks from cassette to mp3, it really is timeless!
You can buy a downloadable version of this tape here. You can also find a playlist of tracks from the tape on YouTube and Spotify under 'Kids Songs and Nursery Rhymes Performed by Celebrity Friends for Tommy's', or by searching 'Tommy's Tape'.
Tommy’s supporter Terry Harding got in touch to say:
"The tape was a saviour when our kids were young and we were travelling in the car. Our daughter has never forgotten it and is really keen to have this for her daughter in turn! We can give them a great surprise for Christmas now."
We wish you happy listening from all here at Tommy’s x
