£740 would pay for a force transducer for the research team at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester. This intricate piece of equipment will help measure the force across a blood vessel to see how it reacts to different situations.
Charitable trusts and major donors can support research projects at health centres across the UK
Help make a difference to our work by supporting the research projects we carry out into specific pregnancy complications. We are currently funding research at Oxford University, Cambridge University, the University of Nottingham, Imperial College London, the University of Manchester and King's College London.
The Girdlers' Company Charitable Trust has enabled us to fund a two year medical research project with a grant of £5,000 at the University of Nottingham.
The project focuses on preventing health problems in premature and low birth-weight babies.
The team are examining different types of placentas to determine whether in an irregular placenta (a grade 3 placenta) it is more difficult for oxygen to pass across the placenta to the baby and whether it is this decreased oxygen supply that causes problems in pregnancy.
If you are interested in funding one of our research projects, please contact us, using the contact details on the left.
