Our Research

Tommy's funds a nationwide programme of medical research into the causes and prevention of premature birth, miscarriage and stillbirth.

Each project which Tommy's funds is reviewed by external advisors to ensure that the charity only supports research which is relevant to its objectives.

Tommy's funds two Professors of Maternal and Fetal Health (Professor Lucilla Poston based at St Thomas' Hospital in London and Professor Philip Baker based at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester) who both lead their own research groups.

Since its foundation in 1992, Tommy's has funded 65 major medical research studies.
