Door to door and airport fundraising

The Tommy’s door to door and airport fundraising campaign will commence on Monday 1st February 2009 and will last for approximately 8 weeks. Our fundraisers will be out and about in various locations across the UK talking to people about our work and asking for support in the way of a monthly direct debit.

How do I know that the fundraiser is legitimate?

We use 2 agencies to carry out our fundraising, Fundraising Initiatives Ltd and Rectangle Group. All of our fundraisers will be dressed in business attire and will carry an ID badge which they will happily show you. Our door to door fundraisers will all wear Tommy’s tabards such as the picture shown. Our airport fundraisers will not be wearing tabards however will always be in close proximity to a Tommy’s branded stand.

Our fundraisers will not be able to accept any cash donations. If you wish to donate to us directly, please click here.

Are the local authorities informed that Tommy’s is fundraising in the area/airport?

Fundraising Initiatives Ltd ensures that, where necessary, the appropriate house-to-house collection license is applied for and granted in advance of the fundraising taking place. In addition, the relevant police forces are notified in advance of the collections so that the local branches can be advised that fundraisers will be in the area. When charity fundraising in airports, Rectangle Group plc ensure that all the appropriate licensing is in place in advance of a promotion commencement.

What do the fundraisers ask for?

The fundraisers will be asking for support in the way of a monthly direct debit for a minimum commitment of a year. The amount they will ask for is minimal, the cost of a weekly cup of coffee. We find this is the most effective way to bring in regular donations to Tommy’s as it is affordable and the ongoing nature of the gift allows us to plan ahead with our research projects

If you chatted to one of our fundraisers about our work and have since decided you would like to give to us in this way, please click here.
